    Periods and growth after them.
    Hi,

My daughter has just started her period this year. She started it in December and January. She is eleven. I was just wondering if this would affect her growth in height, hair or her rapidness in voice changing? Please help me with this. Thank you.

    - Sincerely,

    genieworld66.

In general, I've heard that girls grow less after puberty than before. So it may limit how many more inches she grows. On average, girls grow 2 inches after starting their period, according to the website below.

I did have a friend who grew another inch in her 20s, from 5 2 to 5 3... but I think that's pretty unusual.

The reddie was kind of harsh. I answered the question, but apparently you didn't like the answer. I was just telling you what I read online about your problem for you and gave you the sources to evaluate for yourself. It's usual for an 11 year old to grow more, and I would expect she would. The question is how much. That will depend on how tall other people in the family are (genes), as well as nutrition, stress, and things like that.

By the way, there's no guarantee that your doctor is right either. I can't even count the amount of false information I've got from doctors. But you won't really know for a few years. You didn't give us much information, so I'm guessing you or your husband is tall and the doctor is basing her opinion on that.

Time will tell whether your daughter is going to grow more. Are you contemplating growth hormones? I'm unclear why you are so concerned about her height unless she's so short as to be a midget or something. I didn't grow after age 12... I was 5 2 in 7th grade and 5 2 at age 40, when I finally threw away a jacket my mother bought me to "grow into." :)
