    Class D Assault
Back in 2000' I was charged with a domestic assault & terrorizing. The terrorizing was dropped and the Domestic was lessened to an assault class D. (Lawyer never told me) I have gone this whole time thinking I was charged with a domestic assault. With that thought I have always written on apps. etc. I had been charged with a domestic assault. Last week I went to get paper work on it at the court for a job I am seeking, that is when I found out that it was a class D assault. The incident occurred in Oxford Couty Rumford Maine. I am wondering if a class D assault is a Felony because I know that Domestic Assault is in the State of Maine. I have gone this whole time thinking I was charged with a Felony and am so hoping that when it was lessened I am not. Or is there a difference between Domestic and a Class D.

Class D IS a felony charge in Maine - "A person is guilty of assault if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causes bodily injury or offensive physical contact to another person. Title 17-A, 207, 1. Assault is usually a Class D crime."

You were found guilty - or pled guilty - to a felony.

A "domestic" appears to be more a type of crime than the type of charge (in Maine).

You entered a guilty plea and your Attorney never explained it to you?
