See my sister is societal and I am afraid that She'll hurt herself, she is always blaming her husband for steping out when he is at work. But he isn't and she thinks that the family is taking his side over hers. She says we don't love her and acts like everyone is out to get her.she commits on that shell be better off dead.:( what can I do to help. Please!
p.s. who do can I talk to? Iam so worried about her. I have already lost on of my good friends to societal. Now I don't need to lose my sister.

Do you mean "suicidal"?
At any rate, since I don't know where you live, I will answer by saying contact your local Department of Social Services, if you have one. They can guide you to the right people, and talk with you about it.
You can also talk with the local Court Clerk's Office, in your local Court House. They will be able to guide you also.
A Judge will probably have to sign papers to have her committed, if indeed she needs to be.

You need to try and get her to admit she has a problem. She sounds very depressed. When I was suffering with depression I thought along the very same lines. I did not see the point in living, thought everyone would be better off without me and that if I disappeared no one would notice. You can never see beyond.

Its like being in a crowded room full of people and no matter how hard and loud you scream - no one looks up to help you or comfort you. It's a very lonely illness and caused by a chemical imbalance of the brain. It causes alsorts of mood swings and irrational behaviour - but is uncontrolable without the correct help and guidance. You & your family will not be able to help her because you will not be able to understand. Someone like me who has been through will understand to a certain degree, but the only way we can help her is if she wants to help herself. There are many different types of depression and you have to be very delecate in the things you say to her.

Although I used to say I did not like being me and I everyone was better off without me - I never actually meant I was going to hurt myself and become suicidal. If I was going to do anything it was just disappear - but some how my logical thinking remained and I stayed put- finally realised I had a problem when I was suffering from panic attacks - went to the doc - who diagnosed me with depression.

Sometimes isaying things like "I wish I was dead" is a way of communicating how messed up and unhappy you are.

I don't think at this stage you need to be thinking about getting her committed, but I would recommend you try and get her to see a Doctor and then go from there.

After reading the answer before this one, I do agree with it.
If you can talk your sister into seeing a Doctor, or a Counselor of some type, it might be better than trying to get her committed all at once.
She does need help, more than a "normal" person can give her... maybe even a psychiatrist.

If you believe she is imminently about to hurt herself, call 911 - The police may determine that she needs to go to the hospital immediately.

If it is not imminent, look at the front of yor phone book for your local Suicide Line or Mental Health Mobile Crisis Line and explain the situation. They'll explain what can be done and where you can turn for help.

I know when I worked with the police in Atlanta, if a student at a college actually tried to threated to hurt thierself, the college could have them admitted for observation. The state has rules for so many hours and then a doctor will rule and there would be a court hearning.

On the street with the homeless we sent them by ambulance to the state medical hospital for a medial issue, hopeing they would committ them for observation.

Normally you will have to have so many family members petition the court and have a hearing. You need to discuss this as said with social service and/or the proper hospital for emotional troubles.

Next of course is the issue who is going to pay for it, most private hospitals require either insurance or payment in advance. The state hospitals will only keep the most seroius cases without a form of payment

Don't call the cops. She needs to try some sort of counseling if the meds are not working - you really need to get her to the docs? Calling the cops will only make her worse and the situation worse. You have to let her know she can trust you - not push her away and lose her all together. Trust me - I know what I am talking about!

It is very difficult to give advice over the internet when somebody threatens to suicide. The only advice we can give is to get her to a doctor as soon as possible.

There are many ways of treating depression - which inter alia can affect ones' self-image.

im pretty sure you can call the cops and they can admit her for a 24 hr watch and thereafter it takes 2 family signatures to have someone commited.
