I have a lawn chief model 300 g and when I engage the blades it shuts off mower and there is nothing tangled underneath does anyone have a suggestion please

Check the safety switches. Also with the engine off and the key removed along with the spark plug wire(s) check underneath the deck and check the belt(s) and pulleys.
