Within the next 10 to 14 days, the next two issues that the Messiah is going to be contradicting himself on are:
1-We, the NO DRILL DEMOCRATS, have decided that we do need to start finding and obtaining some of our own oil.
2- I believe that English should be the official language of Government in the United States.
Now, just sit back and watch and listen.
1 - But you guys have lot's of your own oil in Alaska, don't you?

Not bad prognostication especially the 1st one . Senator Majority Whip Richard Turban on Ill. Has come out in favor of off shore drilling and I expect more Dems. To reposition themselves when they go home and hear an ear full from their constituents.
They will especially back off that tripe about "drilling where in areas of Federal land that have already been approved

Anyway...
1) I think it's likely there will be some drilling off the coast. Some exceptions though, like from the State of California where the "terminator" led by green Republican Gov. Schwarzenegger would oppose. However given the history of both parties involvement in the bans, lifting of partial bans would be no revelation.
2) Not likely. That would risk alienating the hispanic vote.
He isn't going to come out in favor of the off shore drilling, there is already a bill being worked on by the dems to force the oil companies to develop the 84 million acres of land that is currently leased to them in the United states. That's what he is going to put out there in the next week or so.
So instead of drilling off shore where no one will see it they are going to an oil platform in your backyard. That's what the next thing the republican are going to claim the dems are doing.
I still say oil shale is the way to go 400 years of oil at $60 a barrel for the United States.
1. Maybe; it will be a 'smoke and mirrors' type plan with lots of promises and very little delivery.
2. Nope; he couldn't begin to look his 'friends' (does he have any?) in the face if he went in this direction. I recall reading that 30 states have approved English as its official language; BO won't do that, but does that tell you anything about the man?

I predict the environmentalists (who for some strange reason is given standing in court any time they want to ) will throw a monkey wrench into oil from shale development.
When I listened to the oil ceo's testify in congress. The CEO of shell pleaded with congress to allow him to drill oil shale saying he could be profitable doing so at $60 a barrel. He also stated that his company has a new way of getting oil out of oil shale that allows it to be pumped out of the ground like regular oil and protects the ground water around the area as well. Why americans are rioting in the streets for this I don't know.
Eight out of ten people in America speak only English.
For those of you who may be mathematically challenged, that's 80%.
30 States, already have some form of an English Only policy, or resolution in place currently.
The most recent to pass such legislation were Idaho and Kansas in 2007.
In Ohio, 85% of the population is in favor of an English Only policy.
In Oklahoma, 88% are in favor of such legislation.
The so called Messiah has really stepped in a big pile of you know what on this one.
Just another example of his arrogance, and his "I'm better than you" mentality.

It really already IS the official language, there are just a few, about 21 or so states, that have not caught up with making it legally so, YET!

We don't really need an official language if we just secured our borders. Prevent people from breaking the laws that are already in place now and suddenly not having an official language isn't a big deal.
Because they don't know about it, just as I hadn't heard it until I read your post. Some call it apathy, but I believe most Americans lack trust in their news sources just as they do their government. Many folks are turning off TV news, just as they are the printed press. It is amazing that the presidential candidates aren't just pandering to the voters; they are pandering to the press, and not many are watching or reading.Quote:

Nahhhh. The only reason to make it "official" is to keep some people out. That's not very American. We are a nation of immigrants. Our history is one of inclusiveness, not separateness. Look. I'm all for passing laws that give rights to people... I love laws that are inclusive of everybody... But, when you start passing laws that TAKE stuff away from somebody, I'm not on board. Making ANY language official, takes stuff AWAY from those who don't speak the language.
That IS what you're trying to do, NO?? Making a drivers license manual available in Spanish takes NOTHING away from you. But refusing to do so, DOES take something away from non English speakers.
Nope, it's not MY kind of law.

I see it as two choices.
FORCE American's to learn another language in order to live here comfortably or,
FORCE those who come here to learn English, in order to live here comfortably.
I choose the second, you choose the first.
