    Citizenship Status Uncertain
    Hello,

I've been in the usa since 4 years old and I'm 34 now, My parents became citizens when I was about 17 or 18 don't know for sure, the question is when they became citizen I automatically also become citizen only if I'm under 18.. I want to become a peace officer and want to know if I am a citizen or not.. when the question is asked: "Are you a citizen of the united states, I always put yes, but now I need to know for sure... I'm also married to a us citizen, does that also mean I'm a us citizen because I'm married to one? Please answer only if you know the answer or where I can find the answer...

    Thanks!

Getting married to US citizen does not automatically make you a US citizen, you need to go thru immigration process and become naturalized.

If one or both of your parents became US citizen before you turned 18 years old, you are automatically a US citizen. In order to get a proof, you must file form N-600 to request for Certificate of Naturalization.

Application fee is $460, you can download the form here Immigration Forms
