    Why is my durango overheating?
I have a 2000 5.9l dodge durango and it keeps overheating. I have replaced the thermostat 2x in the last 7 months. When it overheats it shuts out rust color water. I don't know what else it could be. Any help would be great..

    It might need flushed
I take a cap off the radiator it is usually on or near the bottom of the radiator and run the garden hose water through it with the motor running until it runs clear. Oh and you HAVE to have the radiator cap off for the water to run out.
You can pay to have it professionally done which may be better.

I am no expert but a vehicle shouldn't produce rust-colored water. Periodic change of coolant is needed to restore the correct chemicals to prevent rust development. I think it needs a close inspection of the radiator and probably flushing of the entire system. The radiator could need to be replaced. Radiator shops specialize in these type problems. But thermostats won't get rid of the rust problem. Hopefully, you have a friend or acquaintance that can recommend a reliable radiator shop.
