So I somehow got winfixer 2006 "antivirus protection".basically it's some nasty adware that keeps on popping up all the time to offer to purchase this product and telling me I have 3246 critical errors on my comp,blah blah blah,I've tried a couple different things,but nothing get's rid of it (I tried faronics system cleaner,Microsoft virus scan,and maybe something else-I'm not too sure), can you guys help? I don't want to reformat my comp either since this is a nuisance not a serious thing and it would be a lot of work to reformat.

Virtumonde aka Trojan Vundo Removal has worked for a lot of people getting rid of WinFixer. If this doesn't work, I would recommend posting at forums.majorgeeks.com. You will have to go through a series of scans and logs that you can find here. If its not fixed, you can post some of your logs in the forum and they will help you remove it manually.

From the sounds of it, you tried mainly virus scanners. You'd be better off trynig adware removal tools. Apart from what DrJizzle recommended, also try Ad-Aware & Spybot: S&D. Links to both in my signature. Try and run these in safe mode as they will work better.

If the normal spyware removal is not successful, this site offers step by step as to how to remove, and must then use Hijack This, to to another site listed, to remove it.
