Hi my name is Rob and I have been charged with 5 fraud charges and 2 theft ,I have never done something like this before and regret doing it,I purchased a product at a walmart and then went in and got the same item off the shelf and returned it with my original receipt,and they put the money on a gift card,then I did this again with another item and also walked out with 2 other items,the charges were based on the items returned without the original product(fraud)2 items I walked out with(theft)and every time I used the gift card(fraud) my question is will I recevie jail time ,I just started a new job and don't want to lose it, I will pay all the money back and do whatever it takes to stay out of jail,and I can't afford a lawyer,what do you think?

Have you looked in to a ProBono lawyer? Some of them are very good, but you will have to do the leg work yourself to make a VERY good case for yourself. I know in my state you can call 211 (sort of like 411 for information) to get further information. And yes, I'm sorry, but you can go to jail for this. You seem like you got caught up in something, just stay out of trouble, and keep focused on what is important like your job. The economy stinks as it is, hold on to your job and fight for it with all you have because it may not be easy to get another one.

Depends on your age, State.

Probably probation, restitution, fines - if you want to guarantee you won't go to jail you have to get an Attorney. The fact that is separate incidents is going to hurt you.

And WalMart doesn't back down -

I'm in the same boat as you! Same boat. I don't know what to do and Im sure the computer's and Loss prevention will figure it out and they'll know how to track me. I'm scared of getting jail time and I JUST got this new job and I really don't want to lose it. You're not alone, I completely regret it too! Ahhh I live in saskatchewan and I'm hopini get out so I get back to work if I do go to jail. I completely regret bbut I did what I did and I'll have to suffer the conquecenses, sadly.
