Is this playing or is she just mad?
My cat Auni is a little over a year, she is a very active and playful cat, but today she's suddenly changed her mood. She always runs from you when you approach her, and she
doesn't really like to be pet but today if you tried to pet her or anything she would wrap her paws around your arm, chew on it, and kick it all at the same time. My mom said Auni doesn't love her anymore because she's bit her 2x today. She has done this
a lot before too, but she just hasn't been friendly at ALL today. Is she just playing, because
her ears go flat when she does this and I thought that meant they were pissed off? Do
cats have moody days like humans? My mom screamed in her ear last night, could that be the reason?

Why doesn't she like being pet? I thought cats loved attention? She'll sleep with my mom
but if I go anywhere near her she runs! The only time I can pick her up is when she's sleeping
(which I don't do unless she's in the way, I'm just saying that'd be the only time) or when she's sneaked into my room and is plopped down on top of my gerbil's cage.

I think I know the answer. Please get her spayed. This will calm her down and help her live a long and healthy life. Even more important, she will then not have kittens. The world is full of unloved and unwanted cats and kittens. We don't need any more. Please get her spayed and you will see a difference.

Meanwhile, don't let her chew on you or kick you with her back feet. Just stop moving and, when it's safe, remove your hand or arm. She is very young and energetic, and you don't want her to learn bad habits. Also, don't abuse her by screaming in her ear or hurting her in some way. That will teach her fear, and she will bite and claw in order to protect herself.

Did I mention? -- please get her spayed.

    She's already been spayed.

Thank you! I am so glad! Too often owners don't bother getting their cats neutered.

She's young and energetic, like I said. Don't play with her with the nipping and clawing. Stop moving entirely and just relax. She will release you and stop doing it for a moment or two. This is kitten-to-kitten and cat-to-cat behavior. (I have four cats and watch them do the nipping and back-feet pushing thing.) She wants you to be another cat.

And by the way, my top cat, Thomas Jefferson, is also my best buddy and special cat. He picked me out at the shelter and made me want to adopt him. Sometimes when I pet him or play with him, he will nip me like a love bite, but not to hurt me. Maybe that is what your cat is doing sometimes too.

She also needs you to play with her and tire her out.
Get creative, a toy on a string, some feathers get a little plastic ball with some bells in it cats are great fun. I have four., my Thomas is the only one that gives love bites I always thought it was a boy thing. My 3 girls never bite.

Great advice thanks! I would rate your answer but it says I need to spread reputation around, and I am too lazy now :o
