    how to shut off water ?
    hi I have some problem with my kitchen sink.

    the Faucet is leaking the cold water. I was thinking to open the sink Faucet, but to do that I need to shutdown the water.

    the problem is I could not identify the shut-off valve, or could not determine

    1.) Do I have a shut off value
    2.) which one ?
    3.) how to shut it off.

    I have attached a picture . Plese zoom the picture and see my comments in the pic. As well.

    Any help will be appriciated. Thank you.

    The valve you identified as the cold water shutoff is. If it's a 1/4 turn valve, the bozo that installed it put the handle on rotated 90 degrees. The handle in that position would normally indicate off. You can remove the screw and rotate the handle to be in the position indicating off.

    Yes, you can turn that valve off. If it's indeed a 1/4 turn valve, then rotate the handle 90 degrees as suggested above.

    The RED handled valve probablyy goes to the dishwasher.

    Hi sendi, yes you can shut the water off at the valves on the pictures you posted, just turn the handles clockwise to shut off. Turn on faucet then shut valves off, water should stop running if valves are shutting off properly. If not then you will have to shut off the main valve to your house, or at the water meter.     You were given specific instructions on how to shut the water off. Now if you will give us some information on your faucet we'll help you to repair the leak. We need the , Type,( one handle or two knobs), the brand name, how old? Let's hear back from you. Regards, Tom

    Thank you All for your quick responses.

    Now, when I try to turn the hot water valve to shut-off hot water, It does not turn much, it turns only to 90 deg. Is that normal ? Or should I try to roatate it like screw ? And try to get it all the way in (near) to the pipe ?

    Every one is trying to help you and have state very will how to S/O the cold and hot water to the faucet, follow their's instructions and you be able to work on your problem.
    Plese respond to Tom's question some one will give you a good idea how to fix your leak with out any headach, Thanks.

    SO, AM I suppose to turn it only to 90 deg. And expect that the water is shut-off ?
    That is not the case though!

    It is DELTA, one handle. I think it is 5-6 year old I bought the house and have this system.

    ENOUGH SENDI!! If you're telling us with two pages of instructions that you still can't shut off a valve then I began to suppect a troll's among us. Couple that with the soft porn you gave us with the link makes me more sure that we're being had, ( Hey! I'm a "tush man" myself. I didn't say I didn't like it) But you showed us muich more then your faucet leaking, (no pun intended).
    Good luck Sendi, hope you had fun but we have to get back to important plumbing questions such as, "how to flush a toilet" or "how to turn on a hose bib". Regards, Tom

    You didn't offend anyone Sendi. At least not me. What I find difficult to swallow is that with two pages of instructions trhat you still can't turn a valve off,

    When I turned the faucet 90 deg , water did not turn off.

    Sweetheart, (I can call you that since I have daughters, grand daughters and great grand daughters.) Let me finalize this thread.
    Looking at the faucet head on, you turn the handle clockwise until you can't turn it any more. If the water hasn't shut off by then the stop's faulty and should be replaced. End of story, (and hopefully this thread). I really hope this helps. Good luck, Tom
