    MTD Yardman lawn tractor
My dad just gave me his nearly new MTD Yardman 38" 13.5 HP lawn tractor. The question I have: The steering doesn't work. I can turn the wheel, but the wheels won't move. I removed the rod that connects to the front right axle, then moved the steering wheel and the rod assembly moves perfectly. When I reconnected it, it froze up again. Could it just be the wheel bearings need to be replaced? Also, when I move the front wheels manually, I can see the steering wheel and assembly moving the way it should. Other than that it runs perfectly and starts on the first crank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Check the steering gear sector at the end of the steering wheel shaft. Also, check where the shaft goes through the hole.
