Can someone help me figure out why the fuse on my heater keeps blowing? I'm actually trying to run the air conditioner and get nothing, no fan or anything. I took off the front cover and found a #5 fuse on a small square panel/board. I change it and it just blows right away. Again it's a Concord 90 plus high efficiency heater. I've only run the air unit about 10 to 15 times in the last 3 years. Last ran the air in early June, haven't had any trouble with the heater, but suppose if the fuse is blowing the heater won't be working either.

Any suggestions?

Usually if that fuse blows it is a indicator of a low voltage problem. You will have to check the wiring or find the component that is defective. If you have a meter it will make the job a lot easier.

What kind of meter do I need and where do I start to check the wiring? Do you think this is a job for a professional? Does this mean I might need a whole new furnace?

Sorry to say but if you do not know what type of meter to use I would call a professional for a ON SITE repair.
