Want to switch from steam heat to electric heat
    Hi everyone!

I have a steam boiler. I want to get rid of it.

    1. Can I install electric baseboards to heat my apartment?

    2. How can I heat my water without a boiler or furnace?

    3. Can I use an electric water heater for heating water for showers,dishes,etc...

I would like to get rid of the need for a boiler. Oil is going to kill me this winter so if I can convert now I will be happy. During the winter I use 50 gallons/week and that's 240.00 for 50 gallons. I can't do this during winter this year any ideas...

    HELP ME!!

    YES

    YES

You will need to check your electric panel to be sure it will carry the load of the electric heaters.

Thanks for the response!! My father in law is a licensed electrician and he will walk me through it VERY CAREFULLY!! :D

So I want to make sure I understand you correctly. I am able to get rid of the furnace. All I have to do is install electric baseboards in the rooms of the apartment and install a electric water heater for hot water for showers and dishes and dishwashers... Did I understand this correctly? Then I will be able to take out the furnace!

What are your opinions on tank less water heaters?
Is there any thing else I am missing? I plan on doing this soon because winter is on it's way.

    Thanks again for the help

    They work
    They are expensive
They need a very large electrical panel
They consume large amounts of current during a short time
I have one but it is just for a shower.
