Will water main shutoff cause other issues.
    Hi,

I am going to replace my kitchen sink shutoff valves.

I live in a condo which is in a 7 unit house.

I believe that I need to shut off the water to the entire house to do what I want.

Just need to know if doing that will somehow damage or mess up the water heaters or boiler and I would need to reset them somehow?

Also, should I shut off on the meter side or the house side?

    Thanks!

It shouldn't I had to shut mine off the other day to replace some pipes and it was okay.
I have never heard of any problems from turning the main valves off other than when you turn them back on there might be some pressure build up for a minute.
You want to turn the main valves of the house pipes off not the meter.

    Hello Ericblar,

May I know why do you need the kitchen sink S/O valves to be replaced, are they leaking or they are defetive, if they are leaking you can change the packings or the steams, in both case you need to close the S/O valve to the house, after you done with, there will be some air in the system like Nohelp4u says, Good Luck.

Are you certain that each unit doesn't have its own shut off? If you have to shut down the entire house you will need the permission of all residents or the management company if there is one. The fuel source to the water heaters should be closed to avoid build up of pressure or each unit needs to open their hot faucet to blow the pressure. John asks a good question which you did not detail in your post. Why do you need to replace the stops.
