If you can access your E drive, and you can read from - and save on it, than your problem is not the drive but the software you use to access it.

First of all : what OP are you using ? Windows ? Linux ? Other ? Which one ?
With what software do you try to save data on the E drive ?
What is your E drive ? A separate hard drive or a single hard-drive with several partitions ? If so : how many partitions do you have ?

If you try to save, do you look at the bottom of the save box for another hard drive ? What do you see ?
Did you try the arrows in the top of the save box to go up one or more directories till you reach `my computerŽ where you can select other hard drives to save on ?

IŽll be back later to see your replies...

    :)

    OS " WINDOWS XP"
E drive is a partition on my harddisk
Any software like office excel, nerosmart, etc... no one shows the e drive
Yes I had checked all the buttons up and down , inside my computer there are all other drives except e drive. But when I explore my computer then I can access my e drive.

The only problem is that using any software say nero [ to write the data in dvd, that is in the e drive] I can't access e drive.

    Hope to get an answer

I'm confused, is your E drive your DVD drive or a partition on hard drive? Sounds like you are getting conflicts. I suggest you manually assign a high letter (i.e. Z) to your DVD drive to avoid conflicts.

HOW TO MANUALLY CHANGE A DRIVE'S LETTER ASSIGNMENT

To change an existing drive letter on a drive, on a partition, or on a volume, follow these steps:
    1. Log on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group
    2. Click START > CONTROL PANEL > Performance and Maintenance
    3. Click Administrative Tools
    4. Double-click Computer Management
    5. Click Disk Management in the left pane
    6. Right-click the drive, the partition, the logical drive, or the volume that you want to assign a drive letter to, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths
    7. Click Change
    8. Click Assign the following drive letter (if it is not already selected, click the drive letter that you want to use, and then click OK)
    9. Click Yes when you are prompted to confirm the drive letter change

The drive letter of the drive, the partition, or the volume that you specified is changed, and the new drive letter appears in the appropriate drive, partition, or volume in the Disk Management tool.

Well I did change my drive letter but did not work... my e drive doesnot show up in any software while I am trying to save any document. When I run my antivirus [avg] for selected drive it doesn't display my e drive which has ntfs file system and the status is healthy [ I viewed it through computer management] .

When I manually open "my computer" it shows all the drive including e drive. When I try to save anything I can't access my e drive.

Well my other drive has file system fat32 [c: and d: ] and e: has ntfs. Is the problem due to this...
