Ask Me Help Desk - Debt Company

I recently found this website while looking up information on Asset Acceptance and I have a question concerning this company. To make a long story short they bought my credit card debt and last year put a judgement against me and I was served they would settle if I paid them 2,500 I think but the credit card was less than that anyway I ended up paying them 1,200.00 then 50.00 a month couldn't get the rest of the money for the settlement now they would not give me the settlement they were going to give me then they doubled the amount I owe to like 4000.00 since I paid them 1,200 plus 50 a month its down to 3356.49.., recently moved and realized I needed to pay them well I couldn't get through to pay them finally got ahold of them today they not only refuse to let me pay them last month and this month by basically telling me I have to pay them 250.00 then I can pay 50 a month again or they are going to go to court and get the judgement authorized and get their money

Any ideas??
From what I have been reading online they sound like a really bad news and enjoy ripping off people because what they want for the account and what it was worth I have already paid them so what do I do now. They also want me to just let them automatically get the money out of the account I already do check by phone but I do not want to play that game I don't trust them at all especially since its all the sudden that I missed a payment only because I attempted to get through to them and now they want to play hard ball?? I don't think so...

I don't know if I followed this whole thing correctly but they don't need to get the Judgment authorized - they already have a Judgment. It's in effect whether they moved on it or not.

Why didn't you file an answer when you were first served? Did you have a defense?

You owe them the entire amount of the Judgment and interest and fees/costs - obviously you've paid back some of that. Unfortunately because you owe them and they have a judgment, they get to make the rules. Was your initial agreement in writing? That WOULD stand up in Court.

I think they have the legal ability and right to play hard ball.

Ok, first you put your question as a answer to someone else's question, you will almost never get a answer like that. I have moved it.

First you should have appeared in court, if not, they win exactly what they ask for. Next can I assume you did not have a written agreement with them on the 1200 down and 50 dollars a month, if you have it in writing, great, you take them back to court and prove you paid them as agreed. If you did not get it in writing, well guess what they cheated you and there is nothing much you can do about it, Collection firms ( most of them) all do this, they tell you on the phone they will agree to this or to that, and once you pay that amount they say, I don't remember no agreement and then sue you for the balance, or even worst if you were paying by check, they have your routing numbers, so they will often just take all of your money out of your bank account. So if you were paying by check, I would personally close that account and open a new account.

But yes often debts will double or more getting into court, they add legal fees, late fees, collection fees, court fees and then interest the court allows. So for a 2000 debt to be 4000 by the time it goes to judgement is not unusual at all.
