    Am I safe?
Hi I have been on birth control for 7years straight now, and recently I was just finishing up my last 2 days off the pill(my sugar pills) but I knew me and my boyfriend were going to have sex, so I started a new pack 2 days early and took a pill. It was probably about 6 hours before we had sex. I have continued to take my pills after that night also. Now do you think I'm safe since I have been on the pill for so long and my body may be used to it. Or do you think there is a chance I could get pregnant since I only took the pill about 6 hours before hand? Pleaseee help

There is always a chance of pregnancy when you engage in sex. Whether you are on the pill or not. I would like to say that you are safe, and chances are you are safe.

Taking the pill 6 hours beforehand doesn't really make a difference one way or the other. What you need to know is whether you were ovulating during that time or a few days after the intercourse. That is what will make the difference. If you were ovulating, pregnancy is a possibility, if you weren't the chances are slimmer.

Okay, the fact that you have been on the pill for 7 years and still don't know how it works scares the crap out of me. You do not need to take the pill before sex, you need to take it daily, as directed, including the placebo pills (which just help you to remember when to start a new pack). If you do this, then there is a 97% effective rate with most birth control pills. You do not start the pill early because you are going to have sex. Are you okay? Probably, but sex=babies, even with birth control there is a chance of pregnancy.

I suggest that you do some research about the pill, because you don't seem to understand what it does and how it works.

    Good luck.
