    Fingerprinting and adoption
    Hi,

We are considering adoption. Over 20 years ago my husband had a single DUI. We wrote to the state, and he has no criminal record. Will that show up differently when the fingerprint search is completed? He also had 3 minor incidents for which he was never charged (disturbing the peace, climbing a water tower) that occurred closer to 30 years ago. He says he was never fingerprinted and never went to court. Does this stuff even count as a criminal record? I just need to know what to disclose when filling out an application.

    Thanks.

Only convictions will show up on a normal background check. While an adoption agency may do a more thorough check I doubt if they wilkl go back that far. If they do and bring up the incidents, just say they were so long ago you forogt about them.
