I need your help. I am a single parent of 1, who has been divorced since February. My ex walked out in November and I haven't seen a dime from him. In the divorce settlement he was court ordered to pay child support, 1/2 of all of our son's medical bills and 1/2 of joint bills. But of course I haven't seen a cent. I don't know where he is and I can't afford an attorney. Is there any help or recouse that I can take to get help before we are out of the streets.

Have you contacted ALL of his family and friends trying to find him, because depending on the state if he doesn't pony up the dough, he can go to jail and/or his wages will be garnished.

We were married for almost 15 years-- what a joke and yes I have contacted the family I know how to get a hold of. His cell phone is off, he hasn't even put in a change of address and he already lost his license for unpaid fines. I don't make enuf to pay all the bills and make too much for any state assitance. :( So I am kind of caught between a rock and a hard place.

I know what you mean there, I know this is sort of off topic. But there are places that you can go to get assistance (especially as a single parent). There are chruches, organizations, and such. Try your local Lyon's Club. Also, call the companies you owe bills to and explain the situation (I know it might be embarrassing, but also might be a light), and see if they offer any sort of programs to help. I was unemployed for three months, as the market was really bad. I was too qualified for flipping burgers and couldn't get hired at those sorts of places and was under-qualified for other jobs... My point is, I called all my companies my bills go through, and they all worked with me a bit. Especially the electric company. Most of them have what is called Energy Assistance. They worked out a set amount for me every month, regardless of my actual usage. It's great. And I'm just single, no children. I'm sure you can get far greater help, you just have to search for it sometimes. Good luck.

Take your Order and go to the enforcement division of your local Family Court - I'm sure they are very backed up (a lot of people don't pay) but they should give you some assistance and info.

They have the ability to locate him. Making him pay may take longer.
