    Shower handle crisis
I bought a replacement shower knob set. I got the cold side on just fine, but while unscrewing the center screw on the hot side, it broke off! Now I cannot get the remaining piece of screw out in order to put on the new hot knob. I tried a tap & die set, drilled the hole and while I was screwing the tap in, it also broke off! So, now I have a hollow broken off screw with a broken off tap inside it. How do I get those pieces out!

Probably best to just replace the stem at this point. They are not that expensive and drilling out the broken tap will be extremely difficult.

Don't waste your time with drilling 'n' tapping. Just like HKStraud suggested: Remove stem, take it with you to local Plumbing supply store and get replacement one .
