99 pontiac grand am turns over, starts, then stalls in hot weather
When it gets hot outside and my car has been sitting in the sun, I try to start it and it turns over, starts, then stalls immediately unless I can rev the engine before it stalls out. Took it to a dealer, and they said it was the PassLock system, so I paid $500 for parts and labor. Drove to the store straight from the dealer's garage, shopped for 1 hour--late afternoon, hot--went to start my car again... same thing happens.

I will go back to the dealer, but I can't say I trust them at this point so I thought I'd see if I could get some other advice.

Additional info: This has been happening intermittently for about a year, but usually stalls out once and then starts because I rev engine. Tried getting I fixed last summer, but they couldn't find any problem (they recommended some flush for $120, which did nothing for the problem). Two days ago, late afternoon, hot, it started, stalled, and then wouldn't start for about a half an hour... just kept turning over, and if it did start it'd stall so quick I didn't have a chance to rev the engine... which is why I took it to get serviced this time.

. Test/replace the Ignition Control Module (ICM) and coil packs. The ICM is the most likely culprit.

. Disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 seconds, in order to reset the ECU and force it to relearn everything. Sometimes, this simple step eliminates intermittent problems. Record any radio codes first.
