How about removing the fan and tell us what the wiring in the ceiling box looks like.
No wires are burnt in the receptacle or fixture
Not what I meant. Describe the number of wires/cables in the ceiling box. Number/color/connections.
White to white
Green to bare ground
Black to black
Red to black
In the ceiling box there is probably three cables. There is probably two cables with a black and a white wire and one cable with a black, a red and a white wire. Or there might just be two cables, one with a black and a white wire and one with a black, a red and a white wire. Can you describe what's there like that?
A wire is a wire. A cable is two or more wires in an outer covering.
