Starting the SOL all over again by contacting creditors
I pulled my report and have some doubts about some stuff on there.

Some of this stuff is pretty old but it only shows with a timeline of the last 24 months.

I don't even know where some of this stuff came from. I was thinking writing letters to the creditors/collectors but I'm afraid if those accounts are mine that I start the clock again.

Does anyone knows if this is true? Or should I just dispute it with the credit bureau in hopes that they have to take it off? Even if they take it off do I still have pay them or could they still take me to court?

    Thanks

As long as you don't pay or make a promise to pay or in some states make a settlement offer or reconigze the debt in any manner you'll be safe. Disputing an account with the creditor does not re-start the SOL. They can take you to court even with the SOL passed but if they do you will have a absolute defense, if you defend yourself they will lose the case and all the filing fees.

The cleaner is correct, if you contact them and make sure it is to "challege" the validity of the debt. Do not ever state you will pay, and don't agree that the debt is yours at this point.
