    Hi, debyb!

Greetings and WELCOME to the site! I just moved your question that you had posted in Introductions to this topic area so that it would get the most exposure to those who are best able to answer it. Introductions is for people to introduce themselves and we try to not ask questions there.

We would appreciate it if you would return to Introductions sometime to tell us a little about yourself though, if you would be willing to do that.

    Thanks!

Use a cleansing shampoo, like redken cleansing cream..

Or get it stripped at the salon.. they'll strip it and put another colour over it... so... right away !
I got it done and got it dyed brown with caramel highglights

It depends on the amount of damage done to it. You can dye your hair again immediately if there was very little damage done by the dye. Otherwise, it is best to wait about two weeks before you dye over it.

If you go to a salon, it is much less damaging to attempt to bleach hair, and then dye over it. If you want to significantly change the color (from black to blonde, for example), then it is best to strip it. Be aware that stripping hair is highly damaging.

For two step coloring, it is best to avoid doing it yourself. It is too easy to permanently damage your hair more than necessary, and is usually worth shelling out the cash to have it done correctly.
