I expect I know the answer to this question. I have got a tefl qualification (celta) but no degree. To teach in taiwan japan saudi you need a degree. Ive been looking at the 'degree mill' sites specifically belford university. On the face of it it stinks but can anyone tell me will one of these degrees get me a visa to teach in above countries? Has anyone tried this or know any body who has? I'm too old to mess about getting a degree over 3 years although I have the ability. I'm looking for an easy way to be honest! Any advice welcome.

With all respect : you either have the official papers or you don't.
To get papers any other way supports the idea that you are not the proper person to teach children.

There is none. The correct way takes a lot of energy, studying, and honesty.
And that should be the example for anyone who will teach children.
Seems to me you try to go for the wrong job for you.

Bit harsh cred but I knew I was chancing my arm, I did say myself that the 'degree' stinks; nevertheless go easy on the snap judgements people's lives don't always go the way they want them and circumstances made it impossible for me to further my education and by studying hard to become a qualified tefl teacher (the celta is run and marked by Cambridge University in uk and is at degree level) I believe proves my commitment... besides I intend to teach adults so you don't need to lock up your children!!

There is no degree with life expereince that is accredited by the US Dept of Labor, So if the group that is hiring the teachers require the degree to be accepted by the US Dept of Labor. no.

Now the issue is the hireing authority what is the degree requirement that they give you, And there are cheaper dipolma mills over them anyway if you want a fake degree.

Hey cred still no reply, just want to reiterate that my original post was born of desperation not deceit!! What you spoke of in your reply I had considered but originally I stumbled upon this site accidentally and posted for chance. Since then I have navigated the site and come across some really good people and their opinions so now I'm attempting to wash of my 'blackspot'. Ironically a friend of mine offered me a job teaching English with no qualification 2 years ago. I was tempted but felt it immoral to teach English with no qualification so I studied and worked hard to gain the qualification. Among my options is to teach and study abroad in a country that does not require a degree to teach English. This is possible but my real frustration is that I want to teach in Taiwan where they require a degree; or in Korea/Japan where you can teach English with any degree but no qualification to teach English ( which to me is crazy as teaching requires specific training which I have! ). The bottom line is I am not 23 antmore and I'm desperate to move on without 'spending' more years; hence my original post. I Hope this gives you more light on my situation... R.S.V.P?

yes, in the US none of the life experince degrees have any value, in fact there are a few states where they are even illegal to use or for the schools to offer them.

You will have to ask the school if they will accept this degree it is totally up to them.

I once considered a life experience degree as a quick fix on my way to teach in Japan. But, instead, I looked into quicker methods of graduating, such as CLEP and DANTES exams to complete my degree. They are much quicker, cheaper and honest.
