I had a plumonary embolism 3 years ago and my hospital consultant took me off my contraceptive pill and will not allow me take hormonal birth control at all now:(... problem is I'm due to go away next month on a romantic weekend with hubby and I'm due my period. Can someone tell me if I can take this tablet norethisterone to delay it. It's a one off and I'm desperate. Please help. Oh I have to take innohep while going away because I'm taking a flight... doctors orders.

I would not risk another PE by taking this hormone. It could result in a DVT, which you know, can move up to cause a PE.

Tanx for the advise I understand what you mean but kind of thought because I had to take the blood thinner it would counteract any chance of that happening... silly yes I know but haven't had a weekend to ourselves in 2 years since baby was born and really hoped it would be a special one... still maybe not worth the risk I guess.
