I want to take a Jenny steam pressure washer and convert it to a boiler I can use for my pipe lining. I am a licenced Master Plumber. (43 year) I did boilers for 15 Years. I want to regulate the heater to 7-10 lbs. of pressure put a circulator on it and circulate hot water into my liner. Also the high pressure washer can be used as a jetter. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams, controls, or can explain to me how it can be done.

If you can provide the info I need, I can sketch out a diagram with as much info as possible.

First is it a Jenny high pressure, or a Jenny steam

You can not have a high pressure steam unit. Jenny made some combination units that could do high pressure hot water washing, and be converted to the low pressure steam.

It it is a high pressure unit they will not operate at low pressure and produce heat they would require a certain pressure for the safety to operate the heating unit.

If it is a steam unit, I doubt it would produce enough volume to circulate your system.

Depending on which Jenny model you have, most of the models are steam only, they did sell some models that could do both but they were not as popular with the Jenny.

Also their pumps are designed for cool water not hot water inlet, so you would have to convert the pump in the unit to high temp seals to take a hotter water. Even then the seals you can get for the Jenny pump would not take the same temp as the water temp going out of the unit. Depending on the system, you would have to completely replace the inlet pump with a pump from a boiler system and merely use the heating coils to fire the system. The new pump would have to interact with the safety shut offs for pressure and temp to work also.

Also most of the steam jennys that I know of use keresene as their fuel, I have seen other brands that could use propane or natural gas.

I used to rep for the Hotsy company but also sold some of the steam jennys, I am not sure it may not be cheaper to go with a ready made system by the time you have to buy and replace so many parts.

At what time or condition is the pump required? I feed cold water from house supply to a : example: 100 ft 4" line I just lined. When I bleed the air out I want to turn on the boiler and circulate 140 deg water for 3 hr and my liner is cured.
Will pressure switch control heat source? The kerosene heated jenny will be my heat source. I will use a pressure reg to keep the pressure down to 7lbs in the liner.

All I am trying to do is make use of my jenny kerosene pressure washer. I would like to make one side a kerosene boiler and switch over and have a steam jenny or small jetter.

I guess a jenny hot water high pressure washer that runs on karosene.
If it is a high pressure unit they will not operate at low pressure and produce heat they would require a certain pressure for the safety to operate the heating unit. Ans. I want to bypass the high pressure pump while using it as a low pressure boiler.
Also their pumps are designed for cool water not hot water inlet, I would have a cold water inlet to the boiler through a pressure reg then it would be heated and circulate the hot water through my line pipe until cured (3Hrs)

It it is a high pressure unit ( the ones that will operate at low pressure will have a two knobs normally, one turns down the pressure and volume)
They basically don't have a safety shut off for the boiler so they will work at low pressure and low volume ( thus they create the steam instead of merely hot water at higher volume.

But I guess I am really lost, if you want to convert this over to use as a boiler ( I guess what are you going to try to "heat" or do with it,

If you are going to have continuous cold water from a water inlet going into the system, and have contious kerosine to provide the heat.
You will have a high per hour cost to operate.

I can tell you all about the units in basics, the manufactor of the steam jenny can provide you with currnet specs on your machine.

If the unit currently uses a hose with a trigger gun on the end, then it also has a pressure shut off valve on the pump ( by pass) but the by pass can only operate for a few minutes before the pump is over heated (10 to 15 at most. If it does not have a trigger gun but merely an open gun ( no trigger to turn pressured water off and on, then it most likely is one that can be used as a steam system, since a steam system can not use a trigger gun.

So I fairly well understand what you have, now I just don't fully know what you want to do with it.

What is the model number?

Is there a neutral to the unit along with the 208 volt?

If I can get the model number I can see how it is wired and controlled. I can also see how the heat is controlled.

If only 208 v, then a 208 volt circ pump is needed, along with 208 volt control devices. The pump can be controlled by a 2 pole contactor with a 208 v coil.

This coil can be opened and closed with a pressure switch to not exceed the desired pressure in the liner.

The heat can be maintained at 140DF with a aquastat, or by the units built in heat control, if it can be changed or adjusted to the temp you desire.

The aquastat can monitor the temp and shut off the pump if the temp raises or lowers beyond 140D.

Would a solenoid valve be good to close off the loop from supply water line?

This is not too difficult to wire, I just need to see how the unit is wired now, and get a better idea how to monitor and control the unit heat and pump,

I simply can wire everything all I need to know the jenny steam washer and I will wire it in no time
