Why is my vagina swollen, sore and dry?
Just to let everyone know, I have had tonsillitis for the past 3 days and it is slowly going away. I have a headache now and a bit of a dry throat and that's all.

But a few days ago I've noticed that my vagina doesn't look like itself. It is rather swollen and my inner labia are a bit stretched (its been stretched for awhile) and its also dry.

I heard it has something to do with hygiene, I've had baths a lot. My vagina feels sore when I touch it, not painful but just uncomfortable.

Can someone please tell me why its like this, and what I can do.

    p.s. I haven't had sex recently

It seems like a stupid question, but it is possible: Have you touched your mouth/throat and then somehow made contact with your genitals? Again, it seems silly, and it's rare that it happens, but the bacteria (or virus) from your tonsillitis could potentially spread down to your genitals, causing vaginitis... an infection of the vagina.

Common symptoms are irritation, swelling, sensitivity, pain, sometimes discharge.

It could also be a side effect from any type of medication you've been taking due to your tonsillitis.

I suggest you call your doctor (or go see him/her) and explain the situation.

I agree with Sneezy, but I also would like to ask what antibiotic you are taking for the tonsillitis.

I have been taking asprins and eating strepsils and soothers to soothe my throat. That's all, and I've taken asprins before and this has never happened.

And my vagina doesn't itch at all, by the way the swelling has gone down quite a lot but dryness is still there.

Ask any questions you want to make it easier to answer :)
