Fuse Trips When Compressor Is Triggered, One Small Wire Outside Unit Looks Knicked( With Weedeater ). 7 Year Trane Wire Follows Copper Line To Unit
Which fuse is tripping? At the breaker box?
At Breaker Box - Others On Off Switches Only Outside And By Air Handler
Does the unit run at all? It could be a few different problems, the worst being a shorted compressor, you might want to take the top off and check the wiring at the compressor or in the electrical panel inside the unit to make sure nothing is burnt. Do you own a voltage meter?
I opened outside unit, parts and wires look beautiful, nothing burned or swollen , everything looks new. Wires intact.
COULD THE SMALL KNICKED WIRE COMING IN TO UNIT FROM GROUND CAUSE A SHORT? Small blue wire wraped around small copper wire was touching small copper tube coming from ground to unit.
Chances are that is a low voltage wire that you are seeing, repair it just to be safe. You will need a voltage meter to go much further, can you get one?
Usually your compressor and outdoor fan run off the same contactor, so when the breaker trips it could be your fan motor causing the problem. Probably need to check it as well and make sure it is not shorted out internally, or have someone to check it for you.
