The celebration of the assumption of Mary is coming next month.
I wonder how many here understand the theology and thinking that so many different Churches use to believe and honor Jesus Christ’s mother Mary in that way.
Do you honor Mary as Jesus, her son, did.
Do you understand the theology concerning the Assumption of Mary?
If so, please, what is your understanding about that?

According to Roman Catholic theology and Catechism, the Virgin Mary, "having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory."[1] This means that Mary was transported into Heaven with her body and soul united.

The Bible says we are given a new spiritual body so yes I believe Mary was transported into Heaven body and soul
But wouldn't she be given a new body?

I believe Mary was most blessed but not praying to her.

Like happened with Jesus' human body it is thought that Mary's body became a glorified body.
If you had the power as Jesus has would you allow your mother to rot in a grave?
I know that I would not.

No I do not go along with setting statues of the Virgin Mary or saints out to praise or honor. It is so contrary to what scripture tells us. If there were some scriptures offering information that you insist is true, then I would acknowledge the scripture and be happy to discuss what is Truth..
Have you read the scriptures? Are you aware of Jesus reply to His mother and brothers at the door when they arrived during His teaching?

I believe Mary is in heaven in the same way we will be

Certain images and statues are OK according to the bible.
God even ordered some to be built.
Here are some bible passages to help you understand that.
Ex 25:18-22, 26:1,31; Num 21:8-9... God commands images made.
1 Kings 6:23-29, 35, 7:29... Solomon's temple: statues and images.
Acts 19:11,12... Paul's handkerchiefs and aprons.
2 Kg 13:20-21... Elisha's bones.
Acts 5:15-16... Peter's shadow.
Mt 9:20-22... Jesus' garment cures woman.

BUT it should not contradict what the Bible DOES say and it SHOULD have SOME SORT of Biblical backup.

There are many times altra were built for burnt offering, or altra built in tribute to the Lord. These were places of worship. And in the ark the Lord commanded all that was done.
Exodus 25:16 And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee.

Question: Where is it found in scriptures that we are commanded or requested to build images of the Virgin Mary or saints? And I realize the Catholic Church pays tribute to them all.

It is nice to see a Christian denomination give credit to mothers in their teachings and even so far as to say that a woman ascended into heaven just as Christ did.

Also please understand that it is far from just the Catholic Church, the majority of all Christians follow the beleifs in saints.

Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican including all of the worldwide Episcopl churches, and if you look into the original teachings of the Lutheran church you will find them all there also.

The difference is what the belief in saints holds in your heart? I understand them to being blessed as it is written in the scripture, and as it was spoken concerning the Virgin Mary. She was blessed by God.. She was a servant unto God, as were all the saints. And as we should all be servants unto God. Note: God did all that was done through them. They did nothing of themselves. The scripture hold more admiral remembrance to the woman who washed the feet of Jesus with her hair. Note: She did this of her own accord, with love for Jesus.

Matthew 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, [there] shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

Point of Fact:Never should you leave God to love those more then God. It is the #1 commandment.. For all Praise and Glory goes to our Lord and Savior = Jesus

1 Corinthians 3:21-22 So let no man glory in men. 22 For all things present and things to come are yours, and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

Mary was present with other believers on that particular day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost was given to the Church. She need to be filled with the Spirit just like the others. The Bible gives her no greater honor than any other obedient child of God. She had a special job to do (give birth to the Messiah), but was not given any other mentioned ministry in the Church. Why would you think she had an assumption. The only two mentioned in Scripture who did so were Enoch and Elijah.
