Hi my boyfriend is a sex offender he was 19 years old and she was 15 years old. It was back in 1997 but no one will listen to the truth he did nothing worry. But he did his time 6 years in prison. He is trying to make a better life for himself. I have been with him for 6 months and I have a little girl and he would never hurt her or I. he's not like that but because of what he was convicted of no one care. I am looking for rules and regulations for sex offenders. What they can and can't do in life. I can't find nothing that tells me. We need to know because he got in trouble and now is facing 6 years because of my little girl. He is not on parole or probation. I am looking for a web site or something I can get my hands on in virginia. I order a book for califoria rules but I need virginia now. His conviction was in California. But he lives in virginia and we need the rules for virginia. If there is anybody out there that can help please let me know. Thanks jen

What state, is he on parole? If he is on parole he would have rules from the PO and those the court and parole board set down.

For example, here is one set of rules in WS
Probation / Parole Rules
If he is on probation and I am sure parole would have similar, it states they can not have any contact with a minor child without permission of their PO. So did he get the PO permission to live with you. If he did not get that permission first, yep, very likely back to jail.

Because he's already been arrested for living with you and your child it would appear that somebody does know the rules and somebody is enforcing them.

I don't know if he would or wouldn't "hurt" your child but I see you having problems and your parental judgment called into question if someone reported that you had a convicted sex offender living with you and the child.

I know this is the legal board, and my answer is not what you asked for, but here goes...

1. You have been dating him for 6 months... yes 6 months... you can't possibly know him well enough to bring him into your home with your child.

2. He is saying he did nothing wrong with the 15 year old yet he served 6 years... that type of sentence tells me he did something very wrong and they had some damn good evidence or the 15 yr old is a helluva of a liar.

Little story,
My neighbor got involed with a man that went to jail for supposedly molesting his 2 little boys and raping his wife... of course it was all a lie. He served his time. My neighbor married the man had a child with him and a daughter from a previous marriage. One morning the grandmother came in and caught the new husband and father having his way with the grandaughter. He is in prison again... this time for much longer... I bet he tells his next woman, he did nothing wrong.

The only way I would consider believing him is if he took multiple lie detectors test.. nah not even then my daughters life is more important than any man, I would ever care to get involved with. Let him go, some things are not worth taking a chance on. If you let this man in your life you are taking a chance on something happening to your daughter. She will grow up someday and you can do as you see fit then, until then please be her protector.

She said he is not on parole or probation and the incident was California but he is now in Virginia.

Did he register as a sex offender in Virginia? Virginia Megan's Law - Sex Offender Registry Information

The rule basically is they have to keep a certain distance from ANY and ALL minors.

I had the same question and the OP doesn't indicate where all of this stands but she says he is facing 6 years in prison because of her child so my thought would be he did violate and he was caught or else this would be more in the "what if" category.

As I said, if I were the OP I'd also be a little concerned that the authorities are going to ask just why she allowed a sex offender to live in her house with her and her child (and I realize his original arrest must have been for sex with someone too young to consent) without checking on the terms/conditions of his probation.

And who turned him in this time for living with her and the child?

Many questions, few answers.

Right, and, of course, the only person standing there when the sentence was handed out, when he got out of jail, when the terms and conditions of his release were discussed was the boyfriend - and I don't see that he shared the news with her.

Tijuana That is why it can be dangerous to even 'see' what they use to call jail bait.
If they break up then the girl can claim he did things he never did... after all they were bf/gf and she was under aged so they believe her.
One of my neighbors moved a 19 year old into their 15 year old daughters bedroom and they knew they were messing around but then when things went bad the parents had him arrested for being with their under age daughter.
