    Not eating or drinking
My small dog is not eating and I cannot get her to drink anything. Any suggestions as to
What may be wrong or how I can remedy this?

She may have worms. This can cause dogs to shun water and food. Please have her checked at the vets.

Not eating will not kill her for a few days but you can't let her go without water.

If she were mine and did not drink water for a day she would be at the vet asap early the next morning.

That happened to my dog once, we just took her to the vet and after giving her a shot, she was good to go after a couple hours!

Until you can get her into the vet, which should be ASAP, go to your drugstore and buy a large syringe. Fill it with water, and open her mouth, and squirt the water in. It's best to do this from the side, and you will probably have to do it a bit at a time. Otherwise she will spit it out or start to cough. You need to keep her hydrated until you get to your vet.

One thing that I do with my dog when he refuses to drink (which he does fairly regularly, especially when it is very hot, I'm assuming because he just doesn't want to get up and walk over to his water bowl) is I will give him an ice cube to 'play' with. Sometimes this is the only thing that will get him up from sleeping all day on hot days... and he'll swat it around and get all excited by it sliding across the floor... then eventually he'll 'catch' it and eat it.

    Hope that helps!
