1990 Civic Stalls on Highway or in Park
Im having a stalling issue with my 1990 Civic LX. Its only got 60K miles and was owned by a 92 y/o old lady before me so its in great condition. Except for the stalling that is.

It started a few days ago on the highway @ 65MPH. The engine will just cut out. No sputtering, no hesitation - it just dies. It will happen in all gears including park or neutral.

Sometimes it starts right back up but usually I have tio wait for up to 10 minutes to start it up.

I still have power, the engine cranks, the hazards and all other electricals work when I try to start it.

Im not getting a check engine light except for when it dies. It seems like once it gets a little warm the problem occurs.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks.

Did you read your error codes? They are stored in ECU's memory even if the check engine light is not on.

If you're getting error code 16, I'd suggest you read the FAQ and find info on main relay resoldering (no need to buy a new one - I know from experience).

About the stalling problem - I think I read somewhere yesterday that it can frequently be caused by an ignition coil that is almost dead. Try to borrow a used (but known good) ignition coil and drive with it a day or two - see if it's any better. If it is - get yourself a new coil.

I think 15 was a code for ICM, Ignition control mod inside the distrib I think...
