Hi, we have had a new kitten that is now about 9 weeks old. Just lately she has started climbing into the large floor plant containers and flicking the soil out and lying in them. I have tried using chicken wire in the largest but she still manages to flick the soil out. Is there a home or commercial product I can use to put the kitten off doing this?

First of all you should make sure that none of your plants are toxic or harmful to your cat.
I myself would suggest to use a spray bottle to correct her every time she does this. But here are some more tips I found on Google. They say you can put pinecones in the exposed area of the plant because cats don't like the feeling of them on there paws. You could also put a citrus scented candle or any other that kind they hate the smell of in or around your plants and this should keep them away.

If she is using the plants as a bed, and not a litter box, the other thing you need to do is give her acceptable alternatives to use. Is she looking for a cool spot? Or does it seem more like she is enjoying being "in the wild" so that she can spring out of hiding? Do you mind her sleeping in the plants, or is it the flicking out the dirt that's the problem? If it's the dirt, try getting some nice pebbles and putting them on the tops of pots. It looks nice, and will keep kitty from digging out the dirt, and she will most likely still sleep on them.
