An electrician should check the tightness of wires on the breaker, and the buss the breaker plugs onto.
The Nameplate will tell they Watts and power requirements. Is this on a 240 volt, 20 or 30 Amp breaker, and is wire # 10 or 12?

    Hi Shell:

Something is tripping the breaker off. Did you guys increase the size of the water heater that was previously there..? Did you guys wire this yourselves? If so, you need to chase the wires out to find the bad connection. You need to chase the wires out... starting at the electrical panel and move forward from there.

Start with the power OFF and physically go to all spots you can access... the junction box at top of heater, then the access panels at the ehater itself.

I am betting you have an electrical short at the JUNCTION BOX on top of the heater.

Again, check with power OFF... you are looking for any bare wire that may be exposed in someway...

SEE what you can SEE... then get back to us with those details...

    May be something very obvious...

Otherwise...not a bad idea to call in a licensed electrician to check this for you!
