    Ceiling fan loud
I have a Hampton Bay ceiling fan. It is very loud. Especially as it speeds up. It is about 4 yrs. Old. And getting worse every year. It is remote controlled.
Is there some where I'm suppose to spray WD-40 or something to quiet this thing down?
    Thank you for your help

What kind of noise? Be careful, WD-40 is based on fish oil which makes it flammable. The rotor and field pole shoes may be rubbing due to worn bushings/bearings. The motor uses air flow through it for cooling... if the motor air passages are plugged up, suction from the motor cooling fan may be causing noise/mis-alignment. Mis-alignment maniests by the fan "shaking" as it comes up to speed. At speed, the "Period of oscillation" is sometimes to fast to easily detect.

If you feel it needs to be oiled here are instructions:

However that would be odd for a 4 year old fan.
