    Message immediately after boot up...
    Hi,

I've been having a problem for quite sometime.

Whenever I boot up my Computer, I see a display error message.

    It says exactly:

Windows cannot find ""C:\WINDOWS\sembako-chzjmkg.exe"". Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button and then click Search.

What can I do now? Any kind of recommendation would really be appreciated.

    Thank you in anticipation...

Sounds like spyware that was partially removed. Have you run an anti-spyware tool?

    Yes...

    You are right.

    I did it.

    Now what can I do?

The anti-spyware didn't fix the problem? Did it tell you anything?

Another thing you can try is running MSCONFIG and see if that file is being loaded in your Startup. If it is, uncheck it.

    Thanks a lot, dude.

    I am on it.

I will let you know if it works.

    Hi, Arunav,
I agree with the previous answer of using MSCONFIG, with this explanation. If it's there and you uncheck it, it will not start up again when you start up the computer. But, it will still be in the computer!
According to research about the file, it is spyware or virus that could be potentially harmful.
I would suggest running the following programs I use, in SafeMode as follows:

If you think you already have Spyware/Advertising Ware in your computer, run these as follows:

    AdAware at:
    http://www.lavasoftusa.com
    Download: AdAware_SE V 1.06

    SpyBot Search & Destroy V 1.4
    http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html
All of the above programs run better and much faster when run in SafeMode.

    To get into SafeMode:
Re-boot the computer, and immediately after starting up, Press and hold down, F8, at top of keypad.
When the options show on the screen, use the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard to select
    "Safe Mode".
    Press Enter

It's best to run the AdAware scan first; 3 times; then re-boot.
Then, run the AdAware scan again 3 times. Then, run SpyBot, and then CWShredder.
    Re- Boot.
Reason for running so many times:
Some of these trojans' files can be deleted the first time; leaving some others; but on re-boot, they re-write the files that were deleted.
Running multiple times deletes most of it the first
    Time.

If you wish to have a great program, after you clean out Spyware/Advertising Ware, it's called SpyWare Blaster.
This program stops this stuff from getting into the computer in the first place, by placing URL's in the browser, stopping them instantly. One of the Very Best free programs anyone can download! Updates of AntiSpyware Definitions are available on almost a weekly basis. I have not had ANY spyware since using this program... really no need for spyware scans anymore.

    SpyWare Blaster 3.5
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbupdate.html

    Free online scan at:
    http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/

I do highly suggest using Spyware Blaster, and I wish you the best of luck.

The original question said; "Windows cannot find ""C:\WINDOWS\sembako-chzjmkg.exe""." Therefore the file has ALREADY been removed, but its likely the call to run it is still in the Startup, hence the message.

    Thanks a lot, men.

But sorry to say that I have been having problem with pen drive.

Once the pen drive is inserted into the USB port, it automatically creates subfolders non-stop. Now the computer is getting filled with duplicate folders because of one or many virus (es) which was in the pen drive.

I have not much explanation for these.

But wanted to be served with your help.

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Really Appreciate it.

    Hi, arun,
If your pen drive does have viruses in it, then here is a link to a shareware program you might be interested in:
    http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/U..._Software.html
This software says it's "free", which usually means that you can use it, but can't do the final stages with it until it's paid for. It's $45 US.
If there is anything on the pen drive you need and can't get, it says it can retrieve it, also says it will recover from the pen drive if it has a virus. This hopefully means that it could recover files, getting rid of the viruses, but not certain about that.
    Best wishes.

    Thanks for the replies...

Actually I can stop using the pen drive but the fact is that the virus has been spread in the PC and it's automatically creating duplicate folders.

I have only one partition in the PC; i.e. 'C'. If I format the PC, I will lose every information I have accumulated over the years.

Tried downloading AVG from GRISOFT using the SAFE MODE but the computer automatically restarted.

It's just a magical virus for me. I have never heard of it before.

    It automatically duplicates folders!!

I ain't an IT student and I am ignorant in this area.

I have only one hope and that's YOU.

Thanks in anticipation and lot of appreciation to all of you for your great concern.

What operating system do you have? Is it XP? Did you read my post?

    Hi,

    Thanks once again...

Anyway, I think the computer will not be able to be restored.

Because, In the past, I have tried and failed to restore the system back to 3 or 4 days which is considered to be minimum amount of days, right? Furthermore, the problem was due to minor malicious software attack. But this time, it's far more greater.

So, I think Restoring the system will not be possible.

But I will try it again so as to appreciate Needkarma's advice.

    Thanks a lot, everyone.

    I appreciate it.
