    Cant download in Vista
If I go to download anything in either IE or Firefox, it begins to download... but when the download is complete, I can't launch the download of the downloads popup (firefox), nor is it located where I specifically chose to download to save.

I got a download manager off a friend and it works without this issue... but I would much prefer it if I didn't have to use it.

This is also preventing me from downloading the latest patches in world of warcraft.

Personaly, I think this is a security based issue in vista... but I can't find anything here that will help.

Do you get any errors or messges when trying to d/l?
You mentioned the download completes, did you save the file to your hard drive?
Try saving the file to another folder on your PC. Try just c:\ and see if it shows up in the c:\ dir
With Firefox, you set your default download dir by clicking tools, options, main

Firefox has recently been updated to version 3, see if updating that might help

Do you have all the vista updates from MS

As the above is great advice - check for updates, try a different path when saving (you can actually even try saving it to your desktop) and look for error messges.

VISTA is a pain in the butt for all the security it does. Few like it and most people don't want to switch off XP, but unfortunately support for that is ending soon. The other thing you can do is check to see what your internet settings are -what is allowing and what isn't. Go the 'control panel' on the start menu on and click on internet opitions. Look to see how much security is in place and what is allowed by flipping through the tabs. The problem may be there too.

I've seen this problem with both Windows XP and Windows Vista. To be honest, it's more than likely driver related. Download the latest drivers for your network adapter (probably want to do so on another machine and save them to a flash drive or disc), and then install those. While Vista is extremely picky about security, it does tell you when it blocks something.

Re: WoW updates. If you're on Vista, you need to run WoW as an administrator, otherwise it won't be able to apply the patches properly. Right click on the shortcut, click on properties, navigate to the compatibility tab, at the bottom there's a check box labeled run as administrator.

No errors... just... deletes as it downloads

I have tried saving at all sorts of places, nothing works

Got all the updates from MS...

    Have Firefox 3...

I have tried running as administrator... still nothing

I don't get this issue on XP at all either

Maybe I should just go back to XP :(

Did it work before you got download manager, did it work at all when using vista

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any software or hardware that you installed or setup
