Can you use salt and hot water to clean a navel piercing?
Can hot water and salt be considered an acceptable saline solution for a new navel piercing?

That's what the person who did the piercing on my niece recommended. I was informed that cleansing with hydrogen peroxide was not the modern method.

You can use it, but don't go crazy. Too much salt water actually has a negative effect on piercings, rather than positive. Never use more than once a day.

Along with the salt soaks (or instead of them) you can clean your piercing once a day with antibacterial (Dial) soap. :)

I know a few people that used that for a bit then stopped. I use savlon antisepetic wound wash and my piercing is absolutely fine so I would recommend that =] x
