    Hot DOG
Can dogs have hot dogs? If so, cooked or raw?

Mine don't because of the high salt content. In any form.

Your doesn't like them? But is it okay for dogs to have them?? They are turkey dogs, I'm not sure if that's different...

I have always gave them to my dogs as a treat or to get them to take medication, and the vet told me to, so I don't see how it could be harmful unless that was the main diet.

Check the sodium content - dogs don't have the same kidney function people have.

    Or ask your Vet.

I stay away from feeding foods with a high sodium content - but I had a dog with renal failure so I'm careful.

I not sure about the turkey dogs... they may be better than the other type.
I know from experience every time my mil gives her dog hot dogs she gets ill and throws up same with my chi mix... I'm not sure if it is the salt or the high fat content.. I Do give my dogs meat but it is lean and never the fat.

I may be wrong but I think smaller dogs have a more delicate stomach.

I think my dog has a stomach of steel... I've seen her eat things that weren't meant to be eaten and be fine!

Once in a while treat won't hurt.

If you are worried about regular dogs, try the "graduates for toddlers lil sticks".They come in a glass bottle and you can find them in the baby aisle of most grocery stores. My dogs LOVE them. They contain No preservatives and no nitrites which is why I choose them over regular franks.

What a great idea! Never heard of them before but I am going to seek them out. My dogs give me that big eye look when I'm eating a hot dog and how many biscuits can you stuff into them before they want a treat? I'm going to definitely check this out.
