I have a 2 1/2 ton Goodman self contained heat pump with a heat strip which was set up with a Janitrol HPT 18-60 thermostat. I replaced that with a Honeywell TH5220D1003 thermostat. The Janitrol was wired:
Y= yellow
G= green
R= red
O= white
E= blue (also jumpered to W2)
C=no wire


I wired up the new Honeywell:
Y= yellow
G= green
R= red (also jumpered to Rc)
O/B= white
B = blue

I have the thermostat set on cool and the compressor runs, but it blows out heat instead of cool. Did I miswire it? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

the tstat you have has terminals of Rc, R, W (O/B), W2 (AUX), Y, Y2 (E), G, L, C (the items in () are for heat pump.

old tstat = new tstat
Y(yellow) = Y
G(green) = G
R(red) = R (also jumped to Rc)
O(white) = O/B
E(blue) = E (also jumpered to AUX if you want aux heat, E is for emerg heat)
C is just the common, and doesn't need to be there

This is exactly the way I have it wired, except I don't have E jumpered to AUX, and I do have a heat strip so guess I need to do that also. However, it still blows heat, even though I have it set on cool. In my original post where I said B = blue, it should have read
E = blue. What could I have done wrong?
