Severe Lack of Period. What's going on?
I am 17 years old, not sexually active, and masturbate regularly. I started my period when I was 12 years old.

Here comes the problem: I can count the number of periods I’ve had on one hand. My last period was five months ago, the one before that was two years. I’ve always been a little worried, but my (foolish) embarrassment has gotten in the way of my asking.

So. Should I be worried? Should I just wait it out? Should I take action? You tell me. I know absolutely nothing on the matter.

It may be perfectly normal for you to have intermittent periods, but obviously it can be frustrating having them be so unpredictable. Since it has been 5 years since your periods started, it would be wise to ask your doctor about it... they may decide to do a few tests just to rule out any concern. It will give you some peace of mind to know if it is just how your body happens to cycle, or if anything needs to be addressed.
