My boyfriend is turning 18 and I need some ideas on what to get him. He says he doesn't want anyhting but we all know that's a lie. I need gift ideas. Got any?

... granted, this may not be a good "boyfriend" gift, it's always a good gift for anyone turning 18.

Perhaps you can do something with the "18" theme... get him 18 TINY gifts... come up with a game perhaps, take him mini golfing and hide small gifts near each area... granted, that may be difficult as others may take it.

For my then bf's 18th birthday, my friend and I blew up balloons enough to cover his room.. inside a few we left little hints written as poems to lead him to the next color of balloon to pop, another hint.. and eventually on to his gift... he wanted the Kama Sutra book.. so at least that part was easy to figure out!

What's your guy into? Maybe you could plan a night out for him.. a surprise get together with friends... I think it's more about how you present the gift than it is what you actually get him...

You know him better than us... gifts I was given in the 16-20 year old range by gf's...

Cologne one girl loved (personally I still like this... a collogne that I think is fine and my partner loves is great)... a great shirt, a CD, and diner cooked for me... a bracelet (probably the one I like least in retrospect)... tickets to a concert...

So... depends on what you want to spend (you didn't say) and what your involvement is and how serious (you didn't say) and his likes (you didn't say)...

Following kp... a gift I got when I was 16 - 20 by my gfs...

- stuffed animals. LOTS of them.. . useless.
- clothes. Again, not my thing. I'm OK with a tshirt. Pants optional.
- a share of home depot's stock. Loved it. It was what got me into day trading.
- dvds. Loved them. I'm a HUGE movie buff
- digital camera (dated a girl from a really well off family. Loved it)
- chocolate.. . I don't really like chocolate. So... pass.

In our house we grew the kids up on a cute little saying, "Nothing says 'I love you' like a $20 bill."

A couple of times I just gave them a $20 bill, then thought better, took it back, and handed them TWO $20 bills. Very cute, and they got the point.
