I have a lennox g2003e75 that has just started giving me trouble. The blower fan will not engage. It does not engage in either the heat, cool, or on positions. The outside unit comes on, and the copper tube gets cold. The blower clicks, starts to turn, and immediately shuts off. There is nothing blocking the blades on the fan inside. Any suggestions?

Try replacing the blower motor run capacitor. You will need the same size in MFD's and voltage. Turn power off before messing with it.

Okay, now a stupid question. Where is the capacitor, and what should I be looking for? I'm not an electrician, and I want to make sure what I know what I'm looking at.

Usually mounted near blower motor on the inside of the unit. Silver. You will need tools to remove it. Usually has two wires on it.

When I open the unit, directly in front of me on the blower there is a silver piece held on with a bracket, that looks like a big 9 volt battery with two rather large wires. Is that it? It seemed too easy, like that piece was there taunting me!

Okay, I'm going to get brave enough to do this today. Let me see if I have the steps right: Turn off the power. Check again to make sure the power is off. Take off the old capacitor with insulated pliers. Short out the terminals with an insulated screwdriver. Take old capacitor to HVAC place to make sure I get the right one. Now, here is my question, is it going to be possible for me to put the new one in backwards and defeat my whole purpose?

I said I would keep you posted, so here goes. I changed the run capacitor and got excited because I had cool air! Unfortunately, I also had smoke.

I decided I was too much of a wimp to change the blower motor myself, and called the professionals. They just finished up, and I now have real, honest to God cool air. It was the blower motor, but he also said my coil was crusted up, and that could have caused the motor to get dripped on with the condensation (the humidity runs around 70% all summer).
