    Security Deposit and no contract
I contacted a Lease Company and I made a deposit to security a townhome in Manhattan, Kansas. However, after a week, I decided to cancel the reservation. I did not sign a contract of lease. This company is say that they will keep the deposit and I have to pay U$365 dollars until the townhome is rented. How can they do that if I do not have any signed contract? Is there any law that can help me with this conflict?
    Thanks

Did you sign anything when you gave then the security deposit? If so, did it state whether the deposit was refundable or non-refundable?

If you didn't sign anything, or if it didn't mention anything about refunding the deposit, then the landlord will be entitled to keep the deposit as compensation for taking the townhome off the rental market for you. However if you didn't sign a lease then I don't see how they can charge you anything else.
