Imus put foot in mouth AGAIN
Dallas Cowboys' Adam Jones upset with Imus' comments

ESPN - Imus comments about Dallas' Jones cause uproar - NFL --the video

During a morning segment on his WABC radio show in New York, Imus was listening to a report from anchor Warner Wolf about Jones dropping his nickname, "Pacman."

Wolf mentioned that Jones was arrested six times since he was drafted in 2005.

Imus then asked, "What color is he?"

    "He's African-American," Wolf said.

"Well, there you go," Imus said. "Now we know."

Jones was unaware of the comments until a reporter played him a tape Monday night.

"I'm truly upset about the comments," Jones said. "Obviously Mr. Imus has problems with African-Americans. I'm upset, and I hope the station he works for handles it accordingly. I will pray for him."

Imus said through a spokesperson that he was misunderstood.

"I meant that he was being picked on because he's black," Imus said in the statement.

Imus was fired last year by MSNBC and CBS Radio for racial comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

WABC vice president Phil Boyce told The Associated Press that he is aware of the comments and that it's unlikely the station will take disciplinary action.

"I find the inference of [Imus'] remark disturbing because it plays into stereotypes," said the Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network, which was part of protests that led to Imus' firing last year.

This one will not get traction like the last time. Half the staff on his show including the comics that contribute to his daily skits are black.

The truth is that he made a sarcastic comment about Pacman being busted so often because the police target blacks . That of course is nonsense in the case of Jones who goes out of his way looking for problems (at least 12 incidents we know of ). But to imply anything racists in Imus' comments is absurd.

    I agree.
It is sort of like some whites get away with racial comments because they really aren't racist.
Many don't see it that way though.
Like my son the way he jokes around with blacks others would have been blown away with an AK 47 for the same remarks.

    Hello:

If it looks like a racist, and talks like a racist, it's probably a racist. I certainly don't know why tom doesn't think so. But, of course, he think John McCain would be a good president...

    Well, now we know.

He is claiming that when he asked what race
    And then they said black
He meant not again comment as not again that the police are going after blacks

He could feel so comfortable with blacks that he forgets himself on the radio
My son jokes around racially with his black friends and they laugh but if he jokes with the wrong people he could get shot. So I can understand that if it is the case.

Because I have heard his program and the guy isn't racist .He is not as funny as he used to be. He has had the cr*p beaten out of him by the PC police.

Imus meant that blacks are more likely to be arrested or otherwise hassled by the police. Personally I think he overstates it somewhat . Pacman Jones is a career criminal who just so happens to play football for the National Felony League. I guess Imus doesn't think that Imus is black enough to criticize wana-be gangsta thugs. So he grovels and gives the same PC about blacks being victimized ;and still comes under fire.

What is ironic is that blowhard Al Sharpton is the leading critic of Imus comments. He was totally discreditted years ago. (Tawana Brawley ) What Imus said ;Sharpton makes a living saying .

There will be no lingering controversy over this latest incident because there is nothing there. The only lingering question is Imus' judgement .If I were him I would steer clear of discussing anything remotely racial.

By the way ;why wasn't the big BO's comments about McCain's campaign racist ?
“They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?”

Why isn't Spike Lee's comments about a chocolate city after BO is elected a racist comment ?
