Rental property not being repaired by landlord
I live in a rental property in Kansas and the landlord has been made aware of a major problem as far back as 3 years ago that just keeps getting worse and still nothing has been done to repair it. Due to the ground settling around our foundation there is a crack that runs through my entire residence from the front entry clear to the back wall. Because of this my dishwasher , doors and cabinets do not close and or lock properly. The crack has gotten wide enough that you now sometimes trip over it under the carpet in the dinning room and the vinyl on the kitchen floor has cracked and separated. My laundry room door in the kitchen will no longer stay on track or close properly due to the crack in the floor. The interior sheet rock walls are splitting and separating in several places. We have reported these things to maintenance repeatedly and still nothing is being done. What can we do? Is this against some housing codes?

Move! This may appear flippant, but this condition as been going on for 3 years and you keep renewing your lease? WHY??

You can call the local housing department and ask them to inspect the property. But that may result in the property being condemned and you have to move anyway. You could try getting an estimate on what it will cost to repair the property. Then present that to the landlord or property manager and advise if its not fixed immediately, then you will have the work done and you withhold your rent until the repair is paid for.
