    Wmiprvse High CPU Usage
When I restart my computer I always get the wmiprvse process using up 50% cpu. Once in a while it would take up as high as 99% cpu. Is there an explanation why this process is taking up so much cpu?

What version of Windows are you using?
What kind of printer do you use? HP printers have a utility that might be contributing.

If you don't need WMI, you can disable it...
WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) is a core Windows management technology; you can use WMI to manage both local and remote computers. WMI provides a consistent approach to carrying out day-to-day management tasks with programming or scripting languages. For example, you can:

    • Start a process on a remote computer.
    • Schedule a process to run at specific times on specific days.
    • Reboot a computer remotely.
    • Get a list of applications installed on a local or remote computer.
    • Query the Windows event logs on a local or remote computer.

Do you do any of those things?

    If not, disable WMI:

STARTUP > CONTROL PANEL > ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS > SERVICES
Windows Management Instrumentation Driver Extensions - Manual or Disable

See if problem goes away. If not, do the same thing above to:
    Windows Management Instrumentation

Yes I do, I have a scheduled task that runs daily that sends a file to a remote computer. Is there a patch or fix for this problem to apply? It extremely slows my computer down.

There are so many variables on each computer, this is tough.

When you FIRST start your computer, check the CPU usage, is it normal now for that process? If so, perhaps sceduling your computer to restart itself shortly after that timed event occurs will at least serve to eliminate the issue, if not cure the cause, eliminate the symptom.
