Check your outside fuses and the inside circuit breaker for the outside unit.
Same thing happened to me yesterday. I had the service ma come out after trying all the normal things (breaker, cleaning coils,etc... )
Come to find out that the coil had a hole in it and all the freon leaked out. This unit is about 3 years old and should not have had this type of issue. The problem is related to a poor design of the coil. Just below the fan blade, there is a piece copper of copper coil that basically dead ends (not attached to anything and is plugged on the end). It is very close to the coil that feeds the compressor. When the unit it on the 2 copper coils/pipes touch each other and it eventually caused a hole to form. Again, poor design. I'm trying to determine what recourse I have, because I'm not to happy. See my bill below ($386):
$176.78 - 8 lbs of R-22 freon
$113.99 - Level 3 leak repair
$31.00 - Service
$64.50 - Trip charge
